Quick answers.

Psychologists work with a very wide range of difficulties: depression, anxiety and panic, trauma and PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, addiction, personality disorders, stress and burnout, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship and family difficulties, and problems with children and adolescents. Beyond symptom relief, the work is usually about building self-awareness, practical coping tools, and a more durable sense of agency in your own life.
No. A referral is not required. You can contact us directly, book an appointment, and we will arrange an initial assessment. If you are working with a psychiatrist or a GP and they have suggested particular kinds of therapy, let us know — it simply helps us match you with the right approach.
First, they assess: they build a clear, shared picture of what is happening, what has shaped it, and what you want to be different. Second, they intervene: using evidence-based methods such as CBT, DBT, interpersonal therapy, trauma-focused work or psychodynamic therapy, depending on what fits. Third, they consolidate: they help you turn insight into repeatable practice, so that progress continues outside the session room and survives the weeks when life gets loud.
Yes, with two important limits. If there is a serious and immediate risk to your safety or to someone else's safety, or where we are legally required to act (for example, suspected abuse of a child), we may need to involve others. In practice this is rare, and your psychologist will always talk you through it at the time rather than acting silently.
